This summer has brought a delightful touch of Italy to Eastleigh, thanks to the Garden Society’s exquisite Amalfi Afternoon Tea combining a modern twist with beloved Italian classics.

Garden Society zabrało nas w ten weekend w kulinarna podróż do Włoch dzięki ich Amalfi Afternoon Tea, serwując ukochane włoskie klasyki z małą nutką…. nie, nie tyle dekadencji, co nowoczesnego podejścia do kuchni.

The savoury selection was great. Our standout favourite was undoubtedly the Peach & Prosciutto Skewers. This charming little dish perfectly balanced the sweetness of ripe peaches with the savoury richness of prosciutto. Also worth mentioning was the delightful Mini Burrata.

Z części nie słodkiej, naszym ulubionym daniem były szaszłyki z brzoskwinią i prosciutto.To urocze małe danie idealnie równoważyło słodycz dojrzałych brzoskwiń z wytrawnym bogactwem prosciutto. Mini Burrata także była przepyszna.

Moving on to the sweet selections, the Tiramisu Éclair was a particular highlight; it captured the essence of the classic Italian dessert while adding a unique twist that made it incredibly indulgent. And of course, we couldn’t forget the quintessential British element of afternoon tea: scones with clotted cream. Fluffy and warm, they were the perfect finishing touch to an already lavish spread.

Yes, the calories may have piled up, but every delightful bite was entirely worth it.

Przechodząc do deserów, szczególnym hitem były eklery tiramisu oraz oczywiście kwintesencja brytyjskiej popołudniowej herbaty - skony z clotted cream (clotted cream to bardzo, bardzo gęsty krem ze śmietany).

Tak, kalorie mogły się co nieco skumulować, ale każdy pyszny kęs był tego wart.

The lemon sorbet arrived a bit too frozen, but we managed and it was still very refreshing.

Cytrynowy sorbet był trochę za mocno zamrożony, ale daliśmy mu radę i nie wpłynęło to na jego smak.

For our first Stay in Bangkok, we chose two hotels: Marriot hotel The Surawongse and Banyan Tree. First is Marriot, and I am very nicely surprised by it. It does exceed my expectations somewhat. The rooms are rather compact, kept in modern minimalistic chic style with a nod to Thai history. The bathrooms are comfortable and locked in glass cubicles (but if you are shy, you can push down blinds). The facilities are what you expect from a big city luxurious hotels. The infinite pool is not huge, but the views on Bangkok are glorious, the bars and restaurants are beautifully designed (I love the slightly industrial style of Praya restaurant splashed with huge murals depicting traditional rural Thai life). The Yao rooftop bar is a place to be at sunset.

Na nasz pierwszy pobyt w Bangkoku wybraliśmy dwa hotele: Marriot hotel The Surawongse i Banyan Tree. Zaczynamy od Marriota i jesteśmy mile zaskoczeni. Bo hotel nieco przekracza nasze oczekiwania. Pokoje są raczej kompaktowe, utrzymane w nowoczesnym minimalistycznym eleganckim stylu, ale z ukłonem w stronę tajskiej historii. Łazienki są wygodne i zamknięte w szklanych gabinetach (ale jak ktoś jest nieśmiały to może sobie pozasuwać rolety). Udogodnienia są takie, jakich oczekuje się od luksusowych hoteli w dużym mieście. Basen nie jest ogromny, ale roztaczające się z niego widoki na Bangkok są wspaniałe, bary i restauracje są pięknie zaprojektowane (uwielbiam nieco industrialny wystrój restauracji Praya, ze ścianami pokrytymi wielkimi freskami przedstawiającymi tradycyjne wiejskie tajskie życie). Bar Yao na dachu hotelu to natomiast miejsce do podziwiania zachodów słońca.

We arrive quite early, so we check-in and go for a lovely lunch at the pool bar. And a lot of cocktails to celebrate the beginning of the holidays. Then we go to our first sighting in Bangkok – The Bangkokian museum, because it is only a few streets away. It is a small lovely place, but I will make a separate entry about it.

Przyjeżdżamy do hotelu dość wcześnie, więc zaraz po check-in idziemy na lunch w barze przy basenie. I wiele koktajli z okazji rozpoczęcia wakacji. Potem pójdziemy na nasze pierwsze zwiedzanie w Bangkoku do tzw. muzeum Bangokiańskiego, które znajduje się zaledwie kilka ulic od hotelu. To małe, urocze miejsce, ale zasługuje na osobny wpis, wiec o tym za chwilę.

Finally, we go to the top roof bar for a few drinks (this will also be a separate entry), and then we have our seafood bar dinner at the Praya. It is phenomenal. The selection of food and dessert is overwhelming, and everything is delicious. The first day in Bangkok was absolutely smashing!

Na koniec idziemy do Yao baru na dachu hotelu na kilka drinków (osobny wpis do bloga), a następnie idziemy na obiadokolacje w formie bufetu z owocami morza w Praya. Bufet jest fenomenalny. Wybór jedzenia i deserów jest olbrzymi i wszystko jest pyszne. Pierwszy dzień w Bangkoku był wiec bezdyskusyjnie udany.
